In December, when all of the mutual aid partners came together to draft the FTT schedule for 2022. There was interest in expanding the program to include weekend drills. On Saturday March 26th, the first of three weekend drills was conducted. The topic of instruction was Wildland Firefighting. While each department in the Silver Valley conducts their own RT130 wildland refresher course. The weekend drill was designed to supplement RT130’s curriculum. Enforcing topics like, Progressive hose lays, line construction, and fire shelter deployment. The training set a solid base as we head into wildfire season. Led by Chief Clemons of Daggett Fire department. The exercise saw approx. 25 firefighters from Daggett, Yermo, and Newberry Springs Fire Departments attend.

A faith based organization with a chapter at Yermo/Calico Fire Department provided food after the training was complete. A representative took some time to speak with the students, sharing a very heartwarming survival testimony.

Thanks to SVFA supporters 5.11 Tactical. Training participants received a bag full of products that included a Rapid PL1AA Flashlight and ESC Rescue Tool.

With the increased participation from all agencies in the region. The professionalism, corporate relations, and public support  continues to build for the volunteer first responders in the N. Hi-Desert.
