Earlier this year SVFA started a fitness initiative. The goal is to acclimate volunteers to the arduous demands of performing fire ground operations in bunker gear. The once a month gathering for physical training is going strong and the firefighters participating in Sta-fit are even stronger.



Using various different ways to get a workout in. April’s Sta-fit exercise consisted of tire strikes, life-sized dummy rescue drag, Out of service 2 1/2″ hose as battle rope, recycled foam buckets filled with water for farmer walks, and old truck tires to flip. SVFA’s Station Fitness is a creative yet practical way for first responders in the Silver Valley to “Do More!”
