Local Radio DJ, Manny in the Morning of 94.3 The Duck encouraged the notion of a Comedy Show in Barstow. Golden State Water company got behind the idea and sponsored the event. Months of planning went into the public fundraiser. SVFA’s fundraising committee “The Generators”, met routinely to iron out all of the details to make it happen.

Rudy Moreno hosted the inaugural event. The Comedic line-up included; Jay Lamont, The Great Omar, and Gilbert Esquivel. The talented entertainers were well-seasoned with appearances on Comedy Central, HBO, Showtime, The Jimmy Kimmel Show, The Magic Castle, Cheech Marin & Friends, and Laffapalooza. The stage was set for a wonderful night of fun

Held at the Cora Harper fitness center. The night included a 50/50 raffle with additional prizes such as a Raiders Apparel package donated directly from the Las Vegas Raiders Foundation along with Magic Mountain tickets and an iPad. One lucky crowd member won over $400. The generous patron donated the majority of his winnings back to SVFA.

Food and drinks for the night was provided by EC Barstow and Smarteks Cell Phone Repair. Who delivered fantastic street tacos and specialty beverages.

While the comedians provided hilarious entertainment. The stars of the event were the volunteer Firefighters of the Silver Valley. Members of Daggett, Yermo, & Newberry Springs Fire attended and volunteered more of their time to assist. Department members admitted, seated, and collected for the raffle. The Fire Chiefs of each organization were even in the house to do their part to help with the event.

Proceeds went straight to the Fire Departments of the Silver Valley to help obtain Training, Equipment, & Recruitment.
